2019
My pin design is based on the original project I created in high school for the 2019 SkillsUSA T-Shirt & Pin Competition, where I won at the state level and advanced all the way to nationals. Inspired by Louisiana culture, I built the design using silhouettes, bold text, and simple shapes, starting with the question: What’s the first thing I think of when I hear Louisiana? That idea led me to create a clean, straightforward crawfish pin that represented the state in a fun and recognizable way. Using the process shown in my original PDF—from gathering imagery and text, to choosing colors and patterns, to applying swatches and warp effects—I developed a finished product that felt both modern and rooted in Louisiana identity. This pin was not only a design project but also a milestone that marked the beginning of my journey in visual communication and competition-level graphic design.
